Simple Knitted Bodice

This is truly the best thing I've ever knited. It fits and it drapes perfectly and looks so nice! (please ignore the fact that I'm trying it on over my workout pants, it was about 3am and I couldn't wait to get the pics!)

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Tweed
Bought: webs online
Pattern: Simple Knitted Bodice from the designer Glampyre
Needles: sz 5's and 7's circs additurbos and some dpns as well
Date Completed: October 2006

socks for Joey

The first of these socks and most of the 2nd sock was completed on the plane trips to & from Maui on Joey's wish foundation trip this summer. I had ONLY one skein, and the first time I cast off after measuring against a sleeping child's foot, it ended up 2 inches too long (on the plane ride over.) The SECOND time I cast off (on the plane ride home) they ended up about 2 inches too short. After much cursing and time spent with the cursed sock in the bottom of my drawer, I actually TRIED IT ON THE BOY before determining where to start the toe decreases. Now he has TWO socks that FIT!

Yarn: Lorna's Laces sock yarn in Pioneer colorway, one skein
Bought: KnitWits in Olathe, KS
Pattern: variation of many. Basically cast on 60 stitches, worked the whole thing in 2X2 rib all the way to the toe shaping and had slip stitch heel and stockinette bottom of foot.
Needles: sz 2 dpns
Date Completed: October 2006

Sock Wars Socks

Sock wars socks I sent off to my target. Sock Wars is from the sock monkey blog and was SO much fun! I received the pretty pair of pink/red/purple colorway from my two assassins. LOVE them!

Yarn: Koigu Kersti one skein (barely had enough since they were for a sz 7 lady. For myself, I'd need 2 skeins for sure!)
Bought: the Studio in KC, MO
Pattern: socks of doom from Yarnmonkey's blog
Needles: sz 5 dpns
Date Completed: Fall 2006

Sizzle

Now THIS is a sweater where I measured OVER and OVER to make sure I was getting gauge, measured as I went, and WEAR it because it FITS!! WOO HOO! AND I even have matching shoes!

Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Provence in dark burgandy red
Bought: the Studio in KC, MO
Pattern: Sizzle from Wendy at Knit N Tonic blog
Needles: sz 5 circs addi turbos
Date Completed: August 2006

Somewhat Cowl

Yarn: Baby Alpaca in lavender from knitpicks
Bought: Knitpicks
Pattern: Somewhat Cowl Pattern from Wendy at Knit N Tonic blog
Needles: whatever called for in pattern, I hit gauge right off.
Specs: though I love this sweater, it doesn't fit too well. I think I'll redo the cowl to be a bit longer and bell out more and may or may not try to pull in the armpits a bit to be snugger.
Date Completed: Summer 2006

One skein baby bibs

Yarn: misc. 100% worsted weight cotton yarns in my stash
Bought: mostly in my stash, but I think I got a couple at Yarn Barn in Lawrence, KS
Pattern: in One Skein book
Needles: I think they were on sz 6 dpns, whatever was called for in pattern
Specs: I made up a bunch of these, they were cute as heck and prety fun to knit, will use them for baby presents
Date Completed: Summer 2006

Foulard

I made two of these square shawls, one for me and one for my daughter. They are both in the same yarn and are amazingly cool and beautiful! I didn't make the foulard case, just the shawls themselves.

Yarn: Koigu
Bought: the Studio in KC, MO
Pattern: Foulard from Morehouse Farm Merino Knits book
Needles: I think I used sz 13's from the denise interchangeables because the pointy ends helped with the knit f&b's
Date Completed: Summer 2006

Soleil

This tank is a lovely pattern, but again, I didn't gauge well, I didn't pay attention to that little voice in my head saying "you should make thinner straps, thick straps don't look good on you..." and it just doesn't look right on me. I'm afraid it's waiting in the frog pile. I thought about trying to fix the straps, but the whole thing is just not for me. Cute, but a lesson learned. LISTEN to the voices in your head. OK, just the voices talking about knitting.

Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Provence in a dark purple
Bought: Yarn Shop & More in OP, KS
Pattern: Soleil from Knitty
Needles: sz 6 circs 24" addi-turbos
Date Completed: Spring 2006

Tubey

I love this sweater! It's such fun to wear and was pretty cool to knit also! Instead of actual stripes like the pattern called for, I used some variegated yarn for less yarn ends and a different look.

Yarn: Lorna's Laces Superwash Shepherd Worsted 100% merino in Charcoal and Mixed Berries colorways
Bought: the Studio in KC, MO
Pattern: Tubey from Knitty
Date Completed: Spring 2006
